Mary Alt
Mary Alt is a retired accountant who began studying German in anticipation of her first trip overseas on a river cruise through Germany and Austria. She enjoyed it so much - both the trip and the German language study - that she went back for a second trip and four years later is still studying German. Her other favorite retirement pursuits are ushering at Marcus PAC, attending theater with her daughter, visiting her son and his wife who live in London, and tap dance classes.
Mike Vruno
Mike Vruno developed an intense curiosity for foreign languages as an altar boy, contemplating the transubstantiation of English into Latin. After taking Latin and French in High School, he first encountered the study of German in college. Serving in the military in Germany enabled him to further study the language and hone his conversational skills. Upon returning to school at the University of Illinois, Mike took a couple graduate-level German courses, and more recently, has taken courses at the Goethe House in Wauwatosa. Mike has been involved in many Spanish and Italian classes at UWM and Osher and looks forward to getting back to his German roots.
