OLLI 0163 - Know Your Body 101: A 3-Part Series
Course Description
Have you ever wondered what's actually happening inside your body? Presenter Emily Klik’s fascination for human anatomy began in childhood, leading her to develop a craniosacral therapy practice that helps people feel truly at home in their bodies. This engaging three-part series offers a friendly, accessible introduction to human anatomy — no science background required. Class 1: The Big Picture: 4 tissues, 11 systems. We start from the ground up, exploring the four fundamental tissue types — epithelial, muscle, nerve, and connective — and how they work together to form the body's 11 organ systems. Class 2: Your Nervous System. The nervous system is your body's communication superhighway. We'll go over the divisions of the nervous system, somatic and autonomic, and the balance between fight-or-flight (sympathetic) and rest-and-digest (parasympathetic). Class 3: Your Immune & Lymphatic System. Your immune system is one of the most sophisticated defense networks on the planet. We'll tour its major organs, explore why immune activity is especially concentrated in the intestines and lungs. Each class blends essential knowledge with practical wellness tips you can use right away.

Emily Klik
Emily Klik's fascination for human anatomy began in childhood, encouraged by a father who taught biology, chemistry, and anatomy. For 24 years, she has channeled that passion into a craniosacral therapy practice — helping clients find relief from migraines, spinal pain, TMJ disorders, chronic stress, and much more. Her mission is simple: to help people feel truly at home in their bodies.
