Prerequisites:
Black Belt Certification including project requirement – Copy of certificate and project submission required for Intake Process.
Experience leading and mentoring both Business Process (Qualitative/Categorical) and Manufacturing (Quantitative) Six Sigma Black Belt level projects for minimum of two years after Black Belt Certification.
Experience leading and mentoring Lean improvements, Kaizen or SMD events.
Completed a statistics course at the college level (or will attend UWM Six Sigma Statistics Refresher prior to course).
Intake form completed and submitted with required certificate and project copy.
Provide a professional recommendation (on Intake form).
Obtain instructor acceptance of credentials and Intake.

- Recall and define key Lean Six Sigma skills, tools and techniques essential for project implementation and improvement processes.
- Describe and explain common project roadblocks between Six Sigma class levels and emphasize strategies for their prevention or resolution.
- Apply project management and leadership principles to support and manage Lean Six Sigma projects effectively.
- Demonstrate proficiency in using relevant and emerging technologies/tools within Lean Six Sigma and program management environments.
- Analyze candidate projects to assess adherence to Six Sigma methodology and identify areas for improvement.
- Mentor and evaluate Six Sigma candidate projects, offering constructive feedback and correction of projects aligned with best practices and project guidelines.

Courses
To earn Master Black Belt (MBB) certification through the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, participants must meet the following criteria:
- Completion of Instruction: Attend and actively participate in 80 hours of instructional training.
- Assignment & Quiz Completion: Successfully complete all assignments and quizzes; any score below 80% must be revised and resubmitted.
- Mentorship Engagement: Participate in mentor check-in sessions as deemed necessary by the MBB instructional team.
- Comprehensive Examination: Pass a comprehensive written, oral and practical Master Black Belt exam with a minimum score of 80%.
- Instructional Competency: Demonstrate the ability to effectively instruct topics including Six Sigma methodology, problem solving, Lean, project and portfolio management, change management and organizational culture change, as assigned.
- Project Review Proficiency: Demonstrate the ability to review and approve all types of Six Sigma projects.
- Technology Application: Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing and teaching relevant software tools, as assigned.
- Portfolio Management: Show the ability to manage project portfolios through course-related assignments.
- Organizational Change Leadership: Effectively apply change management and culture change strategies across all organizational levels via course assignments.
- Mentorship Skills: Demonstrate the ability to mentor Six Sigma practitioners at all levels within the organization through course discussions and assignments.
- Leadership: Exhibit individual leadership qualities throughout the program.
- Final Approval: Receive final sponsorship by the MBB instructional team and approval from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee.
